The principle conductor of the PKF – Prague Philharmonia, Emmanuel Villaume, will be conducting the most highly anticipated production of this year’s season at the Metropolitan Opera in New YorkPuccini’s Tosca – with a wonderful cast of Sonya Yoncheva (Tosca), Vittorio Grigolo (Cavaradossi) and Bryn Terfel (Scarpia). He takes over the first series of productions from James Levine on 31 December and 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 23 and 27 January 2018. The production on 27 January will be broadcast as part of  the Metropolitan LIVE series to more than 2,000 cinemas in 73 different countries.

As a result of this extraordinary situation, there has been a change in conductor for the PKF – Prague Philharmonia New Year’s Concert on 5 January at the Rudolfinum. The conductor’s baton will be taken up by Leoš Svárovský, who conducted the Prague premiere of Suppé’s Large Instrumental Mass as part of the PKF – Prague Philharmonia’s Orchestral Series in October to wide acclaim, and also conducted several concerts with the orchestra during their successful tour of China. The concert programme and soloist – Daniel Müller-Schott – remain unchanged. Leoš Svárovský will also be conducting the popular PKF – Prague Philharmonia New Year’s Eve concert on 31 December at the Royal Opera House Muscat in Oman.

Emmanuel Villaume returns to Prague and the PKF – Prague Philharmonia on 17 December for the much-anticipated opera gala with Sumi Jo, and on 20 January for Hayden’s Creation with a trio of outstanding soloists – Simona Houda-Šaturová, Paul Groves, who has sung Creation at the BBC Proms, with the Munich Philharmonic and at the Saint Denis festival, and the New Zealand bass, Martin Snell.
