PKF for Children

The PKF - Prague Philharmonia is the first orchestra in the Czech Republic to organize special concerts for children and their parents. They have become very popular and regulary sell out the Dvořák Hall of Rudolfinum.

Building on this successful platform, the PKF - Prague Philharmonia has launched the NOTIČKA Club for Children between four and thirteen years of age. The club members have the opportunity to get to know various musical instruments, meet the musicians, to develop other esthetic interests including drawing and dramatic arts, and, last but not least, to make new friends.

Concerts for Schools

Concerts for Children

The popular cycle of Concerts for Children at Prague’s Rudolfinum, which over the years has enchanted  young music-lovers and their parents alike, is this season familiarising its audiences with classical music by means of a new fairy-tale titled How Lupi and Šíma Awoke from Musical Slumber. Instead of Martin the Martian, who appeared at previous concerts, the children are now accompanied by the sprites Lupi and Šíma, who fell asleep in the Rudolfinum’s organ and only now are awakening from long slumber to the sheer beauty of classical music.

Concerts for Schools in English

The series linked up to the successful Concerts for Schools in Czech, which have been regularly attended by pupils accompanied by their teachers for the  fourth now.

The Concerts for Schools in English have a dramaturgy similar to that of the increasingly popular Concerts for Children in Czech.   Their added value is that children meet in a more intimate milieu and are afforded the opportunity to get to know music in a much more active manner than at the concerts at the Rudolfinum.

Besides receiving musical education through the PKF – Prague Philharmonia members and actors, with the latter also playing the role of entertaining guides, children gain new knowledge in creative quizzes in English.   During the previous season, the Concerts for Schools in English met with an enthusiastic response not only on the part of the children, who were thus able to share their experiences with their classmates, but also among their teachers.

The Concerts for Schools in English are above all intended for children aged between 4 and 11, yet older children are welcome too. In addition to nursery and primary school pupils, they are open to children accompanied by their parents.
