Zuzana Bialasová — violin
I have a simple invitation for everyone. Don’t miss this trio of cello sonatas given by our wonderful concert maestro!
Cellist Lukáš Pospíšil studied at the Prague Conservatory, the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna. During his studies he also attended a number of masterclasses (Heinrich Schiff, Martin Hornstein) and appeared at competitions (Beethoven’s Hradec, the Janáček International Music Competition in Brno). From 1988 to 1991, he was a member and then later concertmaster of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, and from 2004—2005 he was the solo cellist in the Kammerorchester Berlin. In addition, Lukáš Pospíšil is a recognized chamber musician (Zeiher Quartett), and he has appeared regularly as a soloist in the Czech Republic as well as abroad. He is an enthusiastic promoter of works by Czech composers and together with the Czech Philharmonic premiered the Concerto for Cello and Orchestra by Zdeněk Šesták. He has been the concertmaster of the PKF — Prague Philharmonia since 1994 with which he as the soloist recorded a CD conducted by Jiří Bělohlávek in 2000.
Marek Šedivý is one of the most interesting figures in our contemporary music scene. This outstanding pianist and sought-after chamber musician is also a recognised conductor who has had great success at a young age, for example, with his recordings with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and his appearance at the Debut of Prague Spring. For the 2016—2017 season he was the chief conductor of the Silesian Theatre in Opava and since the 2018—2019 season he has been the principal guest conductor of the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra. As an opera conductor he has worked with the State Opera (Macbeth), the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen (Spartacus, Macbeth) and the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava (The Storm). In the 2012—2013 season, on the recommendation of Jiří Bělohlávek, he was engaged as the assistant conductor in a production of Wagner’s opera Tristan and Isolde at the Canadian Opera Company Toronto. As a pianist he recorded the violin sonatas by Franck, Debussy and Poulenc with the violinist Jakub Fišer in 2012. Other chamber partners have included the brothers Josef and Petr Špaček (violin, cello), with whom he has recorded for the Japanese TV station NHK and also toured across Japan.
