About the series
The 30th anniversary season of the PKF — Prague Philharmonia is marked by celebrations of this prestigious Czech orchestra. Its leitmotif is Czech music and the anniversaries of eminent Czech composers, such as Bedřich Smetana (1824—1884), Leoš Janáček (1854—1928), Josef Suk (1874—1935), Antonín Dvořák (1841—1904), Pavel Haas (1899—1944), Rafael Kubelík (1914—1996), Václav Jindřich Veit (1806—1864), Pavel Josef Vejvanovský (1640—1693) and Lukáš Matoušek (born 1943). The February concert is dedicated to the Czech composer Jan Novák (1921—1984) and will be attended by his descendants, Dora Novak-Wilmington and Clara Nováková. The Chamber Music Series K will also include works by contemporary Czech composers commissioned by individual chamber ensembles.
